My email address was updated to above. You might enjoy hearing from a person who cannot express the happy times with one of the dogs adopted from your program. Metro was trained through your program and he has been trained very well. He gets to go out to an area with 20 acres of ground. He has learned that there are other dogs in the area who he goes to visit. He is very playful and loves to be wth other people. He will bring his ball to them so they can play together. He seems to smile when we go to the 20 acres. He is just like a child who is playing at the maximum. The fun is very apparent and he goes full speed. In fact, at the end of the day he sleeps very well because of the play. He gets so tired that I can walk off and he continues to sleep. This is very good for him and the people around him. Metro wears them out from the continue play. We tag team out to play as much as he wants to play. Many of my friends have expressed how much they like Metro. His training and socialization was promoted through your program. Dogs need to be socialized so they can be together. Your training and time with the dogs has made this possible. Thank you very much. Metro would not be here today without a program like MUM. I adopted Metro on December 29, 2010. I still have the folder that came wth him. I will always be graceful for the wonderful dog that you trained.

I am sorry to hear of the discontinuation of this program - our Cody (formerly Brody) has been a wonderful addition to our family these past 3+ years and he was well trained in this program. The men in this program are to be commended for their patience with these lovely animals. I will send a letter if it would help, to whoever made this decision.

In the spring of 2008, we adopted Kosmo, a hero and the best dog in the whole world, from the Prison Tails program. My heart is crushed to learn that this program will be discontinued! I tell everyone who will listen about the incredible work Regan, Chris, and their staff are doing. I wish there was some way the program could continue indefinitely, and continue to bless the dogs, the inmates, and the families who benefit from their work. Is there any way to save it?

I have told anyone and everyone about PT, about Regan, Chris, and the whole staff, and the amazing work that they do. I wish the program could continue, blessing the dogs, inmates, and adopting families for many, many years to come. Is there anything we can do to change this decision?

I adopted my dog, Metro (still using same name) after looking for 4-to-5 months. I drove two hours to come see the dogs at MUM. I am always very interested in making my best selection plus letting the dog choose. Metro was an excellent dog plus he was very well trained. He has spoiled me many times. He lets me tell him what we need to do as long as he wants to do this. He has been a great deal of fun and I owe this to MUM. Without this program, Metro would not be alive today. This program made a difference in our lives. This is the same for other people impacted by the trainers and other personnel. I cannot thank everybody because I do not know all the people to thank. Your care and program will be greatly missed. The money is not always the major concern.

It is a shame to hear that the correctional center is closing their doors to the Prison Tales dog training program. Many great stories came from this opportunity for animal and misguided inmates. This is a sad day to receive this news, actually it is heart breaking for the unwanted animals that benefitted from this program. As always, there are reasons for this decision that the public will never hear about.

My husband is currently in this program. It has been a great program for him and the dogs. It seems now that the doc wants to shut it down because they say it is not cost effective. I need anyone that would like to write and beg them to keep this program going. NOT only for the inmates but the dogs too. Email me and I can give you info on who to write to. Please help. Email is sadiemae92003@yahoo.com Thanks to all.Stay blessed.

I posted in January about Jinx. Sadly we are losing her to a heart condition. We are taking her to Purdue tomorrow but the prognosis is poor. Thanks to MUM for Jinx, she has been a sweetie.

We adopted Jazz (now Sydney) in August of 2010. She is my first dog, and has set a very high standard! She is the best girl, and an amazing sister to her 4 feline brothers! Thank you MUM, for taking great care of her until she found her forever home. :)

This sounds like an awesome program! Wish they could start something like this at MCFF in Bunker Hill Indiana. I think it would be very rewarding to both trainers and dogs! Plus once done, it would bring in revenue...someone should look into that!

My mom adopted Dolly from MUM about 2 yrs ago. She is the best behaved dog and companion ever. So when we decided to adopt another dog, we were lucky enough to adopt Leeza, a beautiful, black german sheperd in Jan 2012 from MUM. The first day she was home, she came up missing. We found her hiding in the bathtub behind the shower curtain. Since then, we have been continuing the training she learned from John. She goes out with us everyday to turn the horses out in the pasture. She runs and plays with the other animals on the farm and is one happy dog. Thank you for the opportunity to adopt such a remarkable dog.

We got Jinx from MUM in the fall, 2002. She was about 2 years old and she was the cutest little buff colored cat. She is still with us and we love her. She has the shortest little legs and often has to make her leaps in multiple steps but she always makes it to wherever she wants to go! She has been accepting of all of the pets that have come through--whether temporarily or forever. Thanks for letting us adopt Jinx. All of our pets are getting old--we just lost our 17 year old shepherd mix--she died in her sleep--and we hope Jinx continues to enjoy good health and a long life.

Thank you Chris 4 bring Bandit into my home as a senior companion dog. She was loving, friendly & active for being w/just 1 owner. She loved to explore & take walks2-3 times a day. She even became friendly w/neighbor dogs & even a couple cats! I was able to enjoy her company until she had trouble w/her back legs & eating daily. Sorry to say,but she had to be put 2 sleep 12/2/2011. Dr. Weiss was very kind & even the gal gave her grooming in to say goodbye & sorry. They all missed her. I had her ashes from the funeral home. My grson & I got her a red Christmas tree w/lights. We made a little memorial for her & the tree will stay lit until Jan 1/2012. I'm donating her toys, 2 beds & some other items to Mixed Up Mutts. I most likely will want another companion, small of course.Until then I have her pics & many memories to remember her by daily. Thanks

We adopted (Beau) who we named Tody in 2001. He has been a dream. He is a great companion to our family. We have four children who all came after we had Toby. He has always been good to all of our children as well as the neighbor children. We would like to thank you for taking care of him before he entered his forever home.

My family has a Black Brindle, Neapolitan Mastiff. She just turned 5 on March 25th. She is very loyal to her family, loving, returns the love, fun funny, very good with my small grandchildren and just and all around beautiful natured dog. I even taught her to bark "I Love You:~)". During my 1st visit with my fiance David I was waiting on him to get to the visiting room. Meanwhile I was up waiting on French fries to get done in the microwave. A young man who was probably 9 or 10 was looking at the poster of Prison Tails and was telling me a storey about one of the dogs that his father trained. He was so proud of his daddy:). About 2 months later my fiance was telling me about a dog there that he wanted me to go look at online.....it was Raven, the Black Lab/Bull Mastiff. Of course I looked at the whole website after viewing Raven. She is beautiful!! I really liked the you tube video of her playing:). Just wish it would have been a little longer:):) And possibly videos of all of the dogs. I praise all you men in this program and saving the life of these precious animals. They are our companions and like a family member. They are good therapy for some individuals as well:). I read the poems that some of the trainers wrote and noticed in one of the poems the trainer talked about responsibility, compassion and love. How he thought it was going to make a big difference in his life after prison. Good for you;). I hope that all of the trainers have taken away something good from this program when they return to society;). Moreover, that "Love & Compassion" is a big key in our every day lives:).

I'm glad the MUM finally got the room downstairs at R-dorm. The murals are great! Couldn't have done better myself. I hope things continue to prosper for the program and handlers as well.

It's been a little over a year since we adopted Sadie and Eve. They have totally adjusted to their new home. Eve is still skittish when new people come over, but warms up to them a little more quickly now. She will go up to any dog, wanting to play with them. Sadie is a great watchdog and very protective of us. When she sees us welcome people in, she immediately runs up to them wanting to be petted. We absolutely love these dogs. Thank you for all the work you've done with them.

Message From: Nori's Best Friend January 17, 2011
We got Nori on October 20, 2010. She is the best dog ever! She has adjusted to our home well, and loves chasing squirrels up the trees in our backyard. I love Nori more than anything. Also, I would like to thank you at MUM for training her in the Prison Tails System. She was very well trained and is so smart. I am teaching her crawl, jump over and through (for an agility tunnel), as well as practicing old ones like heel, sit, down, stay, and side. She also loves catching frisbees in the snow! Her absolute favorite thing to do is go on walks and sniff everything that I let her sniff. Thank you MUM for this wonderful addition to our family. I couldn't imagine life without her!

Message From: Diamond December 14, 2010

Thanks for all you do. Cody (formerly Brody) has fit in so well with our other dogs and we're grateful he's part of our lives. We set up a $10 recurring monthly payment to Mixed Up Mutts to help with food/expenses and encourage others to do the same! Less than the price of coffee for a week:)

Before MUM found Butch Casidy (now Turbo), he was abused. Through Brock and other handlers Turbo is a fantastic dog. We were lucky to hve other people pass him up so we could adopt him. Yes, he had a few minor issues but Turbo worked them out and now he is almost perfect. Very polite, obeys and loves to please us. His name doesn't fit him and his nature but we not change his name. Thanks everyone for giving Turbo a chance and helping him find his forever home.

I adopted our dog Dagda in January. He is truly a wonderful dog. He is very well-behaved and has obviously had great training. He does have some separation anxiety issues, which is probably why he was abandoned in the first place. However, the crate training he received in the program has been the answer to this, as I am able to crate him when we leave the house, and he does very well. He's a sweet boy and has been a delightful addition the family. Thank you!
